Extra Patrols / Security Checks:

The Somonauk Police Department provides extra patrols and security checks on commercial and residential properties. Property owners requesting an extra patrol or security check will be required to complete and submit a signed request. Property owners must understand that the department is not a private security entity, nor can the department guarantee that their property shall not be a victim of crime during their absence. By completing and signing a request, property owners also authorize and empower the department and its employees to enforce criminal remedies upon their property in their absence and, if deemed necessary, authorize entry into their property while this request is in effect. It is also the responsibility to of the property owner immediately notify the department upon return.

Unlocking Vehicles:

The Somonauk Police Department will unlock your locked vehicle for you. Call (815) 498-2351 and be prepared to provide the following information: Your name Your telephone number Your location Your vehicle description (make, model, color) Upon the arrival of the officer, you will be required to sign a Waiver of Liability releasing the officer and the department of any liability for any damage caused by the officers attempt to unlock your vehicle. Once the vehicle is opened, you must provide the office you must provide the officer with State issued identification in order to prove you are the legal owner / operator of the vehicle.
